Das Pedelec ist eine allgemeine Bezeichnung für ein Fahrrad mit Trethilfe durch einen Elektro-Hilfsmotor. Der E-Motor wird durch ein Kraftsensor aktiviert und unterstützt die Tretbewegung.

Darüber hinaus gibt es noch das E-Bike. Das E-Bike besitzt auch einen Elektromotor, der aber nicht über einen Kraftsensor, sondern über ein Schalter (oder Drehgriff) aktiviert wird. E-Bikes können also auch ohne Muskelkraft betrieben werden.

Meiner Meinung nach wird diese (nicht gerade neue) Technologie proportional zur Entwicklung der Energiepreise boomen.

Der gemeinnützige Verein ExtraEnery hat das Ziel, die Verbreitung muskel-elektrischer Fahrzeuge zu fördern. Dessen Hauptsitz ist in Tanna (Thüringen).

In einer aktuellen Broschüre (Link), die 80 Seiten umfasst, wurde in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Magazin aktiv Radfahren eine Übersicht zu Pedelecs sowie Ergebnisse aufwändiger Tests einiger Elektroräder veröffentlicht. Und das ist wie ich finde sehr lesenswert. Die Broschüre wird als PDF-Download angeboten.
